For over a century, our restaurant has been part of Los Angeles history. Since opening in 1908, we’ve honored traditions that make this place unique—including the sawdust on our floors, a detail many have come to recognize as part of our character.
Following discussions with our insurance provider, we’ve been asked to remove the sawdust to meet updated safety and liability standards. This was not a decision we made lightly, and we understand the significance it holds.
Our responsibility remains to both preserve our legacy and ensure the safety of our guests and team. When those priorities conflict, we are committed to making thoughtful, necessary changes.
While the floors may look different, our dedication to quality, respect for tradition, and commitment to serving this community remain unchanged.
Thank you for being part of our story—past, present, and future.
