After a delay in the start of this year’s MLB season, plus a two-year pandemic hiatus, Dodger fans can again enjoy opening day fun at Philippe’s ahead of the Dodgers home opener on Thursday, April 14.
This year’s opening day comes with a fun twist, a night game which the first pitch against the Cincinnati Reds is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. PT, instead of the traditional day time start.
Philippe’s will be decked out in Dodger blue all day – including decorations and staff in team gear – and will welcome fans as they start making their way to Chavez Ravine.
Baseball fanatics and those along for the ride will again be able to enjoy some opening day spirit with some French Dips, signature sides like Macaroni Salad and chili, ice cold draft beer and plenty more to satisfy any craving.
Like previous home openers, Philippe’s will be ready for the pre-game fans. An extra beer station will be open for those who want to enjoy a cold one without waiting in the main line.
The home opener kicks off a month of nine games at Dodger Stadium, including Jackie Robinson Day on Friday, April 15.
Philippe’s is located less than two miles from Dodger stadium and directly across the street from Union Station where you can catch a free ride with your gameday ticket on the Dodger Stadium Express bus. Service leaves Union Station every 10 minutes starting 90 minutes before the game.
Outside food is permitted at Dodger Stadium, so don’t forget a few French Dips for the road. The Dodgers website says non-alcoholic beverages of 1-liter or less are permitted as well, just no cans, bottles or thermoses.
Philippe the Original is located at 1001 N. Alameda St. and is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more info and to view the menu, visit www.philippes.com.
