For generations, Philippe the Original has been a traditional pit stop for generations of Dodger fans. Some fans refer to indulging in the French Dip as a good luck ritual while others simply enjoy the unmistakable taste of a Philippe’s French Dip.
This Friday marks the Los Angeles Dodgers’s home opener against the San Francisco Giants at 1:10 pm at Dodgers Stadium, and the hype to grab a French Dip on the way, for the road or after the big game is on the rise.
Dodgers’ fans know one thing, it isn’t always about the hot dogs served at the stadium, nor any other food served at any concession inside, but it’s about dipping into a Philippe’s French Dip before, after or during the game.
The Philippe’s experience is majestic for some, whether it’s the fine sawdust that litters the floors or the nostalgic memories that comes with a restaurant that has been around for generations.
Within the past year, Dodger Stadium began allowing fans to bring outside food into the stadium. With the introduction of this new policy, fans are expected to be lining up at Philippe’s as early as 9 a.m.
Prior to every Dodgers game, the corner of Ord St. and Alameda have always been flooded with fans wearing their favorite Dodgers gear.
Philippe’s is open daily from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m.
